East Asian ICT - Korean, Chinese, Japanese Firms Unite to Develop Asianux
October 26, 2004
Korean software developer Haansoft recently announced that it has been selected to join a Northeast Asian alliance of companies that are working to develop a standard applications platform for the region. The alliance aims to create an applications platform known as Asianux, a regional adaptation of Linux that supports and integrates Chinese, Korean, and Japanese language formats. Hannsoft will join the team beginning in January 2005.

The other two members of the alliance include Red Flag Software in China and Miracle Linux in Japan. The project to develop Asianux enjoys the support of all three national governments. Future products that utilize the software platform will sport a label that reads, "Asianux inside."
